Delivery contractor operations glossary

- Service provider
- An independent contractor business that performs pickup-and-delivery, linehaul, or other transportation services under its own agreement and responsibilities.
- Independent Service Provider (ISP)
- A term used for an independent provider business. Program terminology and contractual meaning should be verified against current documents.
- Contracted Service Provider (CSP)
- A general term for a contracted service provider. CSP Crew does not imply that this is the only official U.S. program name.
- P&D contractor
- A pickup-and-delivery contractor operating local collection and delivery routes.
- Linehaul contractor
- A contractor operating scheduled transport between facilities or markets, subject to its agreements and applicable requirements.
- Driver qualification file
- A set of driver qualification records maintained where applicable. Required contents depend on law, operation, role, and professional guidance.
- Settlement reconciliation
- A comparison of a settlement or invoice against client-controlled source records, with variances assigned for review.
- Route coverage report
- A client-approved summary of assigned, open, changed, or unresolved route coverage.
- Exception list
- A list of missing information, overdue follow-up, variances, or decisions that require attention.
- Owner approval summary
- A concise view of prepared work that still requires contractor review or authorization.
